This spicy herbaceous tea is a tasty caffeine-free blend for energy, clarity, and vitality.

As we turn our calendars to the month of September, the days get a little shorter, the nights get a little cooler, and the back to school feelings start buzzing in my belly, even thought I’ve been out of school for many years!

If you’re like me, there’s something about September that makes you want to get your wheels turning again after (hopefully) enjoying a few long, lazy days of summer. Therefore, I thought this was the perfect time to share my Focus Pocus Tea.

This tea blend can help with clearing away brain fog, dispelling writer’s block, sharpening your mind for studying, or just giving that extra oomph so you can get dinner on the table. And since it’s caffeine-free you can drink it any time without fear of sleep disruption. Also, if you’re a “woman of certain age” a cup a day of this tea could help lift that foggy feeling during the day, while also lowering your cortisol, so you can sleep better at night. Double win.

The flavor of this tea is minty, spicy, and herbaceous. It's wonderful alone or with a bit of added honey. Since Holy Basil can potentially lower blood sugar, you should add a bit of sweetener if drinking this tea between meals.

Ingredients:

Vana Holy Basil (Ocimum gratissimum): Native to India, this particular type of holy basil is considered a "tree basil" or "wild basil." A cherished plant in India, holy basil helps with overall health and vitality. Vana Holy Basil is specifically associated with the ability to bring focus to the mind and clear brain fog, while lowering cortisol.

Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica): This herb is traditionally used to support memory, cognitive function, and overall health. Many herbalists turn to gotu kola for ADHD symptoms. It can also help with circulation and ease stress.

Wild Bergamot/Bee Balm (Monarda fistulosa): Bee balm has been used historically to clear to congestion, often used for colds and digestive upset, it can also clear congested energy. That's why I turn to it for the foggy brain feeling.

Peppermint (Mentha × piperita): Grown in my garden and harvested and dried by hand, this mint gives the tea some extra flavor and also helps move the power of the other herbs through your body. Peppermint can also help relieve headaches, aid in digestion, and improve memory.

To use: Steep 2 teaspoons in 8 oz of hot water for approximately 10 minutes. Add honey, if you like. Enjoy!
